Learning and Living

August 2018-June 2020

AFA Volunteer State Community College

During my time in Community College, I focused on my studio courses as well as the general studies that I needed in order to transfer to a bigger University. While I was there, I grew in my skills in drawing, painting, working with mixed media, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics.  My other main focus was learning about art history along with my general studies such as Math, Science, History, and English. I also had the honor of entering some of my artwork into the Student Art Show, where I won the Merit Award, as well as the Intercollegiate Art Show.

August 2020-May 2023

BS Middle Tennessee State University

During my time at MTSU, I learned what it meant to be not only a teacher but an effective art teacher. I got the opportunity to go into different classrooms through Practicum and Residency placements and not only observe the teachers and the classroom but to teach actual students how to think about art, discuss what it means, create their own works, and handle the materials correctly. Working in the classroom and teaching the students about my passion for art has been the most rewarding thing to see and experience. I cannot wait for what the future may bring.
